AN inquest into the death of former Somerset cricketer Peter Roebuck is to be reopened in South Africa, it has been reported.
Prosecutors have reportedly deemed the move to be 'in the interests of justice', according to a report in the Mail on Sunday.
Roebuck, a former Somerset County Cricket Club captain, died after falling from from a sixth-floor hotel room in Capetown in November 2011, aged 55.
He had been arrested over allegations of sexual assault shortly before his death and a number of questions remain unanswered and his family and their lawyers have long argued for a public hearing after an inquest in 2013 which took place behind closed doors.
South Africa's director of public prosecutions in Western Province will now reopen the case, it is claimed.
Roebuck captained Somerset in the mid to late 1980s.
