RESIDENTS are being invited to give their views on a plan for up to 675 new homes on land at Cokerhurst Farm in Wembdon.

Two drop-in events to be held in the coming weeks will give residents the chance to discuss issues with representatives from developers Cavanna Homes and Ensign Group.

As well as hundreds of homes, the plans include a new 'neighbourhood centre', a primary school and new public green spaces linked by footpaths and cycleways.

There are also plans for new junctions on the A39 and provision of a new bus service.

The consultation overall runs for five weeks and finishes on Sunday, November 4.

Andrew Wilson, group land director at Ensign, said: “This site is allocated for development in the Sedgemoor District Council Local Plan, which will soon be adopted.

"We have worked with the Council to promote the site and carried out technical assessments on issues such as transport, local services and ecology to ensure our development complements the look and feel of Wembdon.

"Before we finalise our planning application, however, we are holding a public consultation to give people the opportunity to provide feedback on our proposals.

"We want to work with the local community to develop the best possible scheme for the local area.”

Mike Smith, development manager at Cavanna Homes, added: “We have studied the development of the Wembdon Neighbourhood Plan and where possible reflected local ambitions in our proposals." "We are committed to working with local communities to build a development that meets the area’s housing needs while taking into account the identity and character of Wembdon.

"We value everybody’s views and will consider all the comments we receive during this consultation as we refine the proposals ahead of submitting the planning application to Sedgemoor District Council.”

The first drop-in event takes place on Saturday, October 20 between 10.30am and 2.30pm at Wembdon St George First School, with the second being held in the Village Hall on Friday, October 26 between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.

People can also give feedback and find out more informations about the proposals via the website cokerhurstconsultation.co.uk, in writing by filling in a feedback form which will be given out at the consultation or by calling 0800 9889 141, emailing info@cokerhurstconsultation.co.uk or via post to Cokerhurst Farm team, Camargue, Eagle Tower, Cheltenham, GL50 1TA.
