AN elderly pedestrian has been seriously injured after being hit by a car.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Langport last night (Tuesday).
A silver Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with a 70-year-old man in North Street at about 7.50pm.
The man suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Southmead Hospital, in Bristol, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said the car stopped at the scene and an initial account has been taken from the driver.
He added: "We’d like to speak to anyone who saw this collision or can help with our investigation.
"If you have information, please call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5218226552."
