A HIGHBRIDGE boxing club has moved to a new home after an increase in demand.
On Saturday (September 29) Cllr Bill Hancock, mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge, and his wife, Frances, opened the King Alfred Boxing Club’s new premises at Premier Business Park in Huntspill Road.
The club, which was established 20 years ago, has expanded its facilities and now has a boxing ring, changing facilities and storage area.
A spokesman for the club, said: “The young people of Highbridge and Burnham have a club to be proud of, the new facilities have brought the club back as local contenders
“The club has gone from strength to strength with new premises and the drive that all boxers bring to the club.
“It now has a new time table offering sessions six days per week.
“We’re open for new, old and existing members to join us.
“We are looking forward to a bright and successful future as one club that is determined to succeed.”
