A BURNHAM-on-Sea man has published his first e-book after being inspired by a Broadway musical.

Dylan Seymour started writing the book, Oz, shortly after his mother passed away in 2012 and said putting a pen to paper brought him comfort at a difficult time in his life.

"When my mum passed away two days after my 40th birthday six years ago and I was left to look after my elderly father I was overwhelmed, " Dylan said.

"I went out for a walk one day and walked into a charity shop in Burnham-on-Sea. I saw Wicked sitting on the shelf so I bought it.

"I have always been a big fan of Wicked and I really enjoyed reading it, it's a great story.

"It gave me an idea for my own story so I started writing."

The 46-year-old, who is also an artist, created the artwork on the front cover of the book and said writing the story made him feel closer to his family.

"I do have witch blood in my family," Dylan said.

"I know that on my mother's side there were some witches in my family so writing this book took me back to my roots."

Dylan said he hopes the e-book will be his 'big break' and is looking forward to the future.

"I have had some really positive feedback about the book so far on Facebook and friends and family have been congratulating me on my success," Dylan said.

"I think this book will appeal to a lot of people as it is a fantasy story but I need to get it out there.

"It is quite different story to Wicked even though it was inspired by it.

"I have created some interesting characters and the ending is something completely new so hopefully people will like it.

"I am looking forward to seeing what the future brings."

Dylan's e-book, Oz, is available on the Amazon Kindle store and costs £6.11.
