The death of a man found in a hotel room in Manchester is being treated as suspicious, after another man died after falling from the fifth floor of the same building.
Greater Manchester Police are currently working to establish the identity of the man who was found dead in a hotel room on the first floor of the Britannia Hotel in the city centre.
Officers responded to reports shortly after 5.30am on Wednesday that a man had fallen from a building on Portland Street.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, died at the scene.
Officers investigating the incident then gained entry to the room on the first floor and found the second man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for Britannia Hotels said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the families concerned and we are liaising with police and providing assistance to them during their investigation.”
A forensic tent is in place behind the hotel on Silver Street, which remains closed.
Detective Chief Inspector Amber Waywell, of Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team, said: “The investigation is still in its early stages but we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
“I would urge anyone with information that could assist our investigation to please get in touch as soon as possible.”
