PLANS for the second phase of major project to build 550 homes at Brue Farm have been submitted.

Hallam Land Management has submitted a planning application to build 427 homes, a play area and two football pitches on the site on Huntspill Road in Highbridge.

The reserved matters planning application is the second phase of the developer's plan to build 550 homes, a primary school, a nursery and associated highways on the site, which has lain derelict for a number of years.

Hallam Land Management said if the plans are approved it will bring a 'high quality' residential development to Highbridge with a mix of apartments, two, three and four bedroom properties.

The application is the second submitted since the developer secured planning permission to build 550 homes on the site in 2013.

Councillors from Burnham and Highbridge Town Council's planning committee supported the first phase of the developer's plans to build 74 homes earlier this month and the committee is set to discuss the second phase of the proposal at a meeting on August 21.

To view the proposals go to the planning application of Sedgemoor District Council's website and search for application 11/16/00024.

Comments are welcome on the application until September 9 after which the plans will be considered by Sedgemoor District Council.
