RESIDENTS in Burnham-on-Sea had the chance to tour a community solar array at Wick Farm during an open day at the site.
Visitors met directors from Burnham and Weston Energy CIC, the community interest company which has been set up to run the array, and landowner David Tratt, who told them about his role in hosting one the largest community solar farms in the UK.
The community solar farm has been up and running for two years and generates enough carbon-free electricity to power the equivalent of over 2,000 homes.
Jake Burnyeat, director of Burnham and Weston Energy CIC, said: βIt was great to see such a wide range of people and organisations turn up for a tour and to find out more about our community interest company.β
