NFU President Minette Batters was the guest of honour at the opening of the new NFU office in Williton.

Before cutting the ribbon to open the newly-refurbished building, Minette told a meeting of farmers how pleased she was to see all the investment that had gone in and praised the staff for all the hard work they did on their behalf.

Minette said that, ahead of Brexit, the NFU was working with like-minded organisations to ensure British food production was treated with the importance it deserved.

“We must build alliances and work as team agriculture to make sure the Government introduces primary legislation to stop food produced to lower standards being imported into the UK.”

The new, larger Williton premises on Bank Street, downstairs from the old office, will look after customers of both the Williton and Rooksbridge NFU Mutual agencies and has seen considerable investment this year.

It is based in the former Natwest Bank in Williton.

There is a new meeting room and an interview room, and three new customer service advisors and an account handler have been employed, as well as one staff member has been promoted to look after business development.

Williton has also welcomed a new financial adviser, Laura Howlett.
