THE latest batch of money from the Tesco bags of help scheme has been given to good causes in the area.
The May/June customer voting at Chard Tesco chose the Thorncombe weekly bus service, Zem Carnival Club and Somerset visually impaired cricket club.
Tesco Community Manager, Nicky Halsey, said: “We are proud to support the community in this way. Should anyone have a project that would benefit the local community and they could use a financial grant from us they need to apply online.”
The community manager present the cheques alongside deputy store manager, Mark Wright.
A cheque for £2,000 went to David Marsh of the Thorncombe weekly bus service who will be able to keep the bus running for another year with Dorset Community Transport.
Somerset visually impaired cricket club received £4,000 and the carnival club received £1,000.
Ms Halsey added: “The amount given by the company for projects voted by customers in the Chard store since the beginning of this year is in the region of £24,000.”
Previous beneficiaries include Combe St Nicholas Parochial Trust, Chard Rugby Club and Chard Tennis Club.
Ilminster Tesco’s May /June bags of help winners were Ilminster Scouts with a grant of £4,000, Seavington Community Space with £2,000 and Ilminster Milers Running Club with £1,000.
