A NORTH Petherton mother has issued an appeal after her husband was thrown from his bike after being struck by a car.

The man, 39, was cycling along Bristol Road at around 9.10am on Friday, June 8, when the incident occurred, and the vehicle, believed to be a white Hyundai, failed to stop.

His wife has written an open letter to the Mercury appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with police quoting collision reference number 2018/4036.

The woman, who does not want to be named, said: “Thankfully two passing motorists stopped to check he was ok and apart from a few grazes and pulled muscles, he is fine, but he could very well not have been and the person responsible left him to the mercy of the traffic.

“If he had not been wearing appropriate safety gear it could well have been a lot worse.

"I could have been left without a husband and my children without a father.”

The bike was seriously damaged and had to be replaced.
