POLICE are appealing for information after a child was assaulted in Porlock.

The child was grabbed by the shoulders and pulled to the ground on Bossington Beach at around 3.30pm on Sunday, June 10.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police, said the child suffered significant bruising in what appears to have been an unprovoked attack.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to come forward.

"The offender is described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40, average build with short dark stubble, wearing a grey hoodie and ripped blue jeans," the spokesman said.

"He was in company with a larger built male wearing shorts and they appeared to be drunk.

"Anybody with any information regarding the two men asked to call 101, quoting reference number 5218128065 and ask to speak to their local police team."
