A SOMERSET property has been named among the 10 best high-end holiday homes in the world.

The Threshing Barn, a restored Somerset property, at Little Upton Bridge, near Langport, has been named as the eight best high-end home by TripAdvisor, alongside houses in Costa Rica, Florida and The Ionian Islands.

Gill and Simon Hart, who own and run the barns have been presented with the 2018 TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award.

"This award was completely unexpected and is based purely on travellers’ reviews," said Gill.

"I wanted to share with the wider community because traveller’s experiences aren’t just about the house, but about the people they meet and the experiences they have during their stay.

"So, everyone in business in the area, as well as the wider community have played a part in this. Thank you."

This TripAdvisor Award is only given to 30 holiday houses each year, from the over 400,000 listed across 160 countries and are determined by visitors’ reviews covering the overall experience; including service, amenities and value.

Visitors to Little Upton Bridge come from as near as South Somerset and as far as the USA, Japan and Australia.

The converted farm and industrial buildings cater for groups of up to 20 people celebrating anything from birthdays, family gatherings and special anniversaries to hen nights, weddings and holidays.

Private hot tubs, a heated swimming pool, croquet lawn, saunas and games areas are found throughout, while wood-burners, large dining tables and spacious lounges combine to create a really sociable environment.

“The guests don’t just get a house but a whole Somerset experience,” Gill added.
