AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a car hit by an arson attack was left stranded on a footpath in Taunton

The incident took place on Saturday, May 12, at around 2.30am, on the pathway near Bishop Fox Drive. 

The car was left on the path facing in the direction of the nearby road. The pathway starts near Mount Street and runs past Richard Huish College

It is used daily by students who attend the college and the nearby school Bishop Fox's. 

A spokesman from Avon and Somerset Police said: "We are investigating the arson incident that took place on Bishop Fox Drive. 

"If anyone has any information please call 101 quoting reference number 5218 102 685."

A spokesman from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: 

"Upon arrival vehicle was well alight. Crews extinguished using 2 breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.

"Cause of fire was deliberate. Vehicle was severely damaged by fire. 

"All details of vehicle and location have been passed to police for action."

It is believed that the car was removed at around 7pm last night (May 14).
