A BURNHAM-on-Sea photographer helped members of a local camera club perfect their portrait shots at a masterclass.

Nick Tolley, owner of Nick Tolley photography on Abingdon Street, beautician, Hannah Shapter and model, Leona Walsh met with members of Burnham Camera Club at the Bay Club on April 17 and showed them tips and tricks for taking portrait shots.

The trio did a mini-photoshoot at the event and Mr Tolley spoke to members about portraiture before asking them to take their own snaps.

Speaking after the event, Nick said: "I have been taking portraits for nearly 40 years, it is nice to reflect openly and chat about the experiences and changes I have witnessed.

"I enjoyed it all, every minute of it."

The club, which meets on Tuesday's at the Bay Club, was created by Burnham resident, Mike Lang and is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year.

David Whatley from Burnham Camera Club said the event was a huge success.

"All of our members really enjoyed hearing Nick speak, they all loved it," David said.

"We have speakers come in regularly who give presentations and talk about their passion for photography just like Nick and our members really enjoy it as they can learn new skills.

"We also have 30 minute challenges where our members are given a subject to photograph and sent out to take images and whittle it down to just one entry on the night to be judged by our own members.

"In the next few months we have more speakers and workshops planned including editing training using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and have subject and location shoots planned."

The club will be hosting their annual exhibition on July 21 at Burnham Methodist Church on College Street from 10am until 3pm and hope to raise funds for Burnham RNLI.
