THE owner of St Keverne Bakery appeared in court on Wednesday for failing to comply with hygiene requirements.

Simon James Phillips, of Porthallow, on the Lizard peninsula, faces eight separate charges relating to his bakery that described how the business did not meet EU hygiene regulations.

The charges included not making sure that adequate pest control was carried out, not effectively cleaning equipment, and not ensuring that food waste was disposed of as quickly as possible.

The case was adjourned to Tuesday, May 22 to give Phillips the chance to seek legal advice or representation.

* A 25 year old man has been fined £65 after admitting speeding at Trewennack, Helston.

Michael Jewell, of Tregajorran, Carn Brea, exceeded the 30mph limit on September 22. He was ordered to pay £85 costs, £30 victim surcharge and his licence was endorsed with three points.

* A FALMOUTH woman who admitted two separate speeding offences in a Mercedes has been fined £400 by Bodmin magistrates.

Li Ying Meng, aged 52, of Manor Cottages, committed the first offence when she exceeded a 70mph limit on the A38 in Devon on August 7 last year.

She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge, with three points placed on her licence.

In a separate speeding offence, she was fined a further £200 when she exceeded the 30mph limit in Plymouth on September 25 last year.

Another order of £85 costs was made and a further three points were added to her licence.

* A TRURO man who stole the latest model of an iphone worth £800 has received a community order from Truro magistrates.

Tai Rhys Allen, aged 20, c/o Pendeen Road, Malpas, took the phone from the Vodafone shop in the city's King Street on January 24.

The community order instructs him to participate in an accredited programme for 20 days.

He was also ordered to pay £105 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

* ASSAULTING a police officer resulted in a 25 year-old man receiving a suspended prison sentence from Truro magistrates.

Stefan William Ledden, of Symons Close, Blackwater, near Truro, admitted the offence which took place in Truro on April 14.

His 12-week custodial sentence has been suspended for 12 months and he must comply the condition of a six-month supervision period.

He was also ordered to pay £200 compensation, £115 victim surcharge and £105 costs.

* A COMMUNITY order has been imposed on a 42 year-old man who assaulted a female special constable.

John Martin Geraghty, of Allet, near Truro, originally pleaded not guilty to the offence, but changed his plea to guilty when he appeared before Truro magistrates on Tuesday.

He must carry out 90 hours of unpaid work and pay £100 compensation, as well as £200 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.

* A CAMBORNE man who caused almost £1,000 of damage to two cars on the same day

has been given a 12-month conditional discharge by Truro magistrates.

Christopher Paul Keen, aged 29, of Gwelmor, was ordered to pay £450 compensation to the owner of one car to which he caused £900 of damage.

He had to pay £50 to the other car owner after causing £95.57 of damage to his.

Keen, who admitted both offences, also has to pay a victim surcharge of £20.

* A 20 year old man who drove with no insurance has been banned from the roads for six months.

Jamie Robert Pengelly, of Trinity Close, Carnmenellis, near Redruth, committed the offence on Boxing Day last year at Vogue, near St Day.

He was also fined £110 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* A LANNER has been banned from driving for six months after being found to have no insurance.

Ethan James Howard, aged 27, of Tayberry Drive, admitted the offence on December 22 in Redruth.

He was fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and £30 victim surcharge.

* A REDRUTH woman who destroyed a double glazed door, window and plant pot at a property in St Agnes has had a community order imposed on her by Truro magistrates.

Sally Louise Scrivens, aged 37, of Edmund Road, admitted committing the offence on July 10 last year.

She also pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in a public place and drink driving on the same day, when she had 38mcgs of alcohol in 100mcgs of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

The order forbids her from visiting two streets in St Agnes and from contacting two individuals.

She was also ordered to pay £200 costs, £67 compensation, £85 victim surcharge and has been banned from driving for three years.

* A CAMBORNE woman who exceeded a 60mph speed limit has been fined £200.

Jody Marie Thomas, aged 23, of Chapel Road, Tuckingmill, admitted the offence which took place on January 20 on the A30 near Hayle.

She was ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 21 days.
