This year's Helston Town Tidy launches on Sunday, beginning a week-long series of events

The widespread tidy up of the town is always held a couple of weeks before Flora Day, to get the town looks its best for the annual feast day.

Work begins on Sunday when volunteers will meet at Strathallan B&B in Monument Road to tackle the MoD corner and Furry Way up to 1pm.

There will then be five weekday evening events, all between 6pm and 8.30pm. The scout hut is the meeting point on Monday to tackle King George V Playing Fields and Coronation Gardens, with Tuesday set aside for the Castle Green Car Park, Castle Green steps and boating lake area, including its car park.

On Wednesday people should meet at the canon outside Helston Museum to clean up Five Wells Lane, Wheelbarrow Lane and Cobbled Ope, while on Thursday meet at Outback Trading to clear the higher and lower Tyacke car parks and the opes that lead to Coinagehall Street, including the Sunken Garden.

The final weekday evening on the Friday will meet at the top of Horse & Jockey Lane to tackle the Alley Barbers alley, Trengrouse Car Park and Park an Dower.

The final event, on Saturday, April 28, will be between 10am and 1pm, with the location still to be decided.

Helpers should come appropriately dressed for the weather, with comfortable shoes. Tools and gloves will be available, although people are encouraged to take their own where available.

If you plan to take part email helstoninbloom@gmail.com where possible, so that enough equipment is provided.
