SADLY missing dog Monty's body has been discovered in a pond in the village of Cotford St Luke.

His owner, Laura Smedley has thanks neighbours and friends who helped search for him after he went missing.

She posted the following message on Facebook.

Somerset County Gazette:

A FAMILY of six are appealing for help to find their missing pet dog.

Several people have joined the search for six-month-old whippet Monety, who disappeared from the family's back garden in Cotford St Luke last Tuesday (March 20).

There has been one possible and unconfirmed sighting of a loose dog near the Conquest Riding Centre last Thursday, but apart from that the trail has gone cold.

The owner, Laura Smedley, said: "Residents in the surrounding area have been amazing and have given up their time extensively searching the area as well as putting up posters, informing vets and local rescue centres.

"West Somerset Railway has helped widen the search by adding the information to their website/Facebook page and it has been widely spread across social media with over 500 shares across lots of different groups.

"A local drone enthusiast from Drone SAR for Lost Dogs has also voluntarily helped us search the surrounding fields and hedgerows to see if he is hiding, but has found nothing."

Mrs Smedley, her husband and their four daughters are keen to get the word out to as many people as possible in case he has been stolen, which they say is looking more likely as there have been no confirmed sightings.

Somerset County Gazette:

Monty, who is microchipped, is unneutered, male and grey.

When he went missing, he was wearing his red tartan collar with a brass ID tag.

He is a very friendly and outgoing little dog and would go towards people or other dogs rather than be frightened and run away.
