Penryn Town Council has two new Labour members following last Thursday's by-election for the west ward.
Jo Garrett and Chris Mullins won the admiration of the Truro and Falmouth Labour Party who posted after the count: "Massive congratulations to Jo and Chris for a fantastic win in Penryn West tonight.
"Nobody seems to even remember the last time we had a Labour councillor on Penryn Town Council, and now we have two."
Jo attracted 406 votes and Chris wasn't far behind with 396. In third place, and not elected, was Liberal Democrat Kamil Tworkiewicz.
There was a low turn out of voters with only 16.14 per cent of the 3,637 eligible, going to polling stations. Of the 517 postal votes issued, only 212 were returned.
