A 50 year-old man has been charged with a number of driving offences after a vehicle failed to stop for police in Burnham-on-Sea.
Richard Gowan Smart, of no fixed address, has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop following a collision and failing to report a collision.
He has also been charged with handling stolen goods and three counts of burglary.
Some of the charges relate to an incident on January 16 where a motorist failed to stop for police and crashed into an elderly man driving a Kia on Adam Street in Burnham-on-Sea.
Smart appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court today (January 22) and his case has been sent for trial at Bristol Crown Court on February 21.
