AN elderly woman's dedication to her community was recognised when she retired from a voluntary role after 22 years.

Kay Seed, aged 92, recently stood down as vice-chairman of Lane Estate Residents' Association, in Taunton.

Members of the community and local organisations gathered to show their gratitude for all her efforts over the years.

Mrs Seed helped shape tenant services in Taunton Deane and has been involved in several community activities, including breaking down barriers to develop mutual understanding and respect and making a positive difference to the lives of residents on the Lane estate.

She was at the forefront of dealing with the issues of vulnerable people and helping to alleviate social isolation.

Her tireless work was recognised in 2015, when she was presented with a Citizenship Award by the then Mayor of Taunton Deane Cllr Dave Durdan.

At the time her nomination described her as "very caring" and always showing concern for her fellow residents and their wellbeing.
