RESIDENTS are being reminded to keep their dogs off Burnham-on-Sea beach or they could face a £75 fine.

Dogs are not allowed on the town's beach between the jetty and the Pavilion as a year-round dog ban is in force.

Sedgemoor District council says 24 fixed penalty notices have been issued in the area in the last year.

A spokesman for SDC, said: "It is an offence to take a dog onto this part of the beach at any time and the fine is £75.

"There is clear signage in place to show the banned area."

Dogs are allowed between the Jetty and the Yacht club and from the Pavilion to Maddocks Slade from September to the end of April each year.
