THE chairman of Burnham United Football Club has thanked a Bristol company after it donated two TV’s following a burglary.

Members of the club near The King Alfred School were ‘gutted’ after thieves broke in on December 19 and stole two TV’s, damaged the shutter on the back door, a jukebox and a fruit machine and emptied money from the till.

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Speaking after the break-in, a spokesman for the club said: “It is gutting that anyone could do this to the club and is a kick in the teeth to all the volunteers who give up their time to run it.”

After seeing the club’s posts on social media following the burglary, Tim Walters, from Bristol-based used car dealership Carbase, contacted the club and donated two two large, flat screen TV’s to replace those stolen.

The TV’s were presented to the club on New Year’s Eve at a charity football and rugby match.

Spectators cheered as players from Burnham United and Burnham Rugby club played football at the ground to raise money to support the club.
