THERE have been reports of delays on Quantock Road in Bridgwater following a crash this lunchtime.

The incident has affected traffic on the A39 at Quantock Road near Skimmerton Lane in Wembdon following the crash today (Monday, December 18) at 1.30pm.

Firefighters were called after a two car collision which saw one of the vehicles leave the road and crash into a bush  leaving two people trapped.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "On arrival crews confirmed that two persons within one vehicle were not medically trapped but were unable to exit the vehicle safely due to its position.

"Crews got to work stabilising the vehicle and creating a safe space around the scene in order to assist the occupants out.

"Firefighters were quickly able to quickly release the casualties who were then placed in the care of the ambulance personnel on scene."

Earlier this morning there was also a crash at Olivers Road in Middlezoy near Bridgwater.

Police, ambulance and fire personnel all attended the two car crash at 10.30am.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue confirmed that all people were free and clear of the vehicle, with one casualty having suffered head injuries.
