A POPULAR man who works for Sedgemoor District Council hit an impressive milestone.
John Parker started working for the council on December 12, 1977, and has been a familiar face around Bridgwater where he has been keeping the town clean and tidy for four decades.
Councillor Mike Cresswell, the chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, surprised John on his 40th anniversary when he was at a meeting in Bridgwater Town Hall to discuss town centre improvements and presented him with a small gift for his efforts.
Cllr Cresswell said “This is one of the nicest jobs I have had to do as chairman.
“John is well-known around the town and always has a kind word and a smile for everyone.
“We all owe him thanks for his tireless work, not only in Bridgwater but with his colleagues in Clean Surroundings.”
