FIRE crews were called to a kitchen fire in a Taunton home last night (Sunday).

A member of the public had dialled 999 reporting a fire in the property in Cheddon Road shortly after 9pm.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Two pumps from Taunton were immediately mobilised by fire control.

"On arrival the officer in charge confirmed a fire within the kitchen area of the property.

"Crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one safety jet, CO2 extinguishers, a positive pressure ventilation fan and a thermal imaging camera.

"The incident was left safe and in the hands of the occupants."

It was the second time in just over 48 hours that firefighters had attended the section of Cheddon Road following another call out on Friday evening.
