RESIDENTS who went to a new community morning were the first to play Burnham-on-Sea’s very own board game.

Aboard Burnham is the brainchild of Kay Barrett from Hands of Change and features town attractions such as Apex Park and Burnham Lighthouse.

This game and many others are being played at a new community games morning, Burnham-on-Board, as part of a joint initiative between St Andrews Church and Hands of Change.

Reverend Sharon Eldergill, from St Andrews Church, said: “The game was great fun to play.

“Kay is an amazing woman, innovative and creative as this new game demonstrates.

“She is very community minded, thus each person in the game helps to move the other players around the board, because, Kay says that’s what community does for each other.”

The new group had its first session just a week ago and Kay said it is already proving to be a hit with residents.

“The games morning was a lovely way to meet up with new people to enjoy some old fashioned board games and to learn some new ones.

“It was very relaxing,” Kay said.

Burnham-on-Board takes place every second and fourth Tuesday every month and runs from 10.30am to 11.30am at St Andrews Church.

“We hope the group will grow as more people hear about it – we want as many people as possible to get involved,” Kay added.

“Its a great group for people of any age and gives people the chance to meet up in the community and have some fun and its very engaging.

“The first group went really well and we hope to see more people through the door over the next few weeks.”
