RESIDENTS are being urged to remain vigilant after a man attempted to gain entry to a number of homes in Burnham-on-Sea.

Police were called to Stoddens Road on several occasions on Saturday (October 14) after reports that a man was trying door handles and attempting to gain entry to properties.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said they have increased patrols in the area and handed out information to residents in a bid to ensure they remain vigilant after the incidents.

"Our enquiries into the incidents are ongoing but we would encourage anyone with information to get in touch," the spokeman said.

"If you see anything suspicious or suspect someone is trying to gain entry to your home call 101 and ask for police."
