A HEARTBROKEN mother has paid tribute to her 'beautiful boy' who died following a hit and run incident in Wales.

Liam Simpson, 18, formerly from Bridgwater, was found dead in a road in Flintshire on September 30 after he was hit by a black BMW at Well Hill in Hollywell.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said two men aged 28 and 21 from the local area are currently under arrest and are being treated in hospital.

A 23-year-old woman is currently in police custody being questioned by detectives.

In a statement released by North Wales Police, Liam's mother, Vicky Simpson paid tribute to her son.

“On Saturday September 30, my beautiful boy left home ready to go on a night out with his friends.

“Liam was a football fanatic and a massive Liverpool fan; he had just started out with Holywell Town FC and was venturing into coaching Greenfield under 6's football team.

“Liam was also aspiring to be a primary school p.e. teacher and he would have been perfect for it.

“He had an amazing sense of humour and was loved by everyone that knew him.

"Our lives will never be the same again, our hearts are broken. Liam will be missed forever by everyone whose lives he has ever touched and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.”

Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Williams, who is leading the investigation into the fatal collision said: "This is a photograph of a young boy about to go on a night out with friends.

"Liam had his whole life in front of him and was deeply loved by those who knew him.”

“What happened is an absolute tragedy, but to add to the torment of his loved ones, the person responsible for Liam’s death left him lying in the road and cowardly ran off.

"People in the local community of Holywell will both know who is responsible and where he is.

“People from all walks of life are understandably disgusted by what has happened and it is quite clear to me that they want to help.

"I am sincerely grateful to those who have come forward so far; they have undoubtedly helped us in reaching this point in the investigation.

"Nevertheless, there is still a huge amount of work to do to make sure those responsible for Liam’s death, and the subsequent torturous ordeal his loved ones and friends are now suffering, are held fully accountable for what they have done.

"“Our deepest sympathies are with Liam’s family and specialist police officers are supporting them through what are clearly terribly traumatic and distressing circumstances.”

“Therefore once again I encourage anyone with any information, no matter how minor they feel it may be, to come forward. I am more than happy to take calls through the 101 system or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
