BRIDGWATER held its 71st ploughing match which saw 120 ploughman descend on a field in Huntworth on Saturday morning.
Participants had travelled from as far afield as Kent and Cumbria to take part, with between 500 and 1,000 people going along to watch proceedings.
Judges were on hand to assess the competitors openings, straightness, uniformity and firmness to see who deserved this year’s trophy.
There were also displays of vintage tractors and farm machinery, as well as the ever-popular horse ploughing class. Many entrants will take part in the National Championships, being held in Bishop’s Lydeard in October.
