Dog walkers have been urged to be vigilant after a man exposed himself to a woman at Wellington Monument.

The incident was reported to police and officers searched the area for a stocky man who could not be found.

The partner of the victim, whose name will be withheld, reported the incident and said she is now too frightened to walk their dogs in the area.

He said: “My partner went to Wellington Monument to walk our dogs. There was a man stood next to his car with his penis in his hand.

“Upon seeing my partner, he put it away and started to walk towards her car. She panicked and drove away and police said they will up patrols for the next few days.”

He wants to warn visitors to the area to be vigilant and said the man police are looking for is in his late forties and had and old beige saloon colour.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said the incident happened at about 5.10pm on Wednesday, September 9.

The spokesman said: “A man indecently exposed himself to a woman in Monument car park, Wellington.

"An officer attended the car park and searched for a man and vehicle matching the description given. He also spoke with other members of the public in the area, but this man couldn't be traced.

"He's described as white, 5ft 11ins, of stocky build, with dark hair and was wearing black jogging bottoms.

"If you have information on this incident, or information about anyone acting suspiciously around this area, please call us.”
