DO you have an old picture of one of these pubs in the Bridgwater area?

Jane Penfold is seeking images to help complete her book on the history of pubs in Bridgwater, which will help raise money for Bridgwater's Blake Museum.

Mrs Penfold has worked in a lot of care homes and hopes the books could be a valuable resource.

"When working in care homes I found there is a lot for women to do but not very much for men sometimes," she said.

"With this book it should hopefully bring back memories with the pictures of the old pubs and the names of the landlords, and bring a smile to their faces."

Mrs Penfold wants the book to be comprehensive and has managed to track down the majority of photos she needs but some still remain elusive - and this is where you could help.

If anyone has old pictures of the following pubs, be sure to get in touch with Jane: The Albion Inn (Ashcott), The Bell Inn (North Petherton), The Copper Kettle (Penel Orlieu), The Bird in Hand (Bristol Road), The Coach and Horses (St Mary's Street), Coleridge Cottage Inn (Nether Stowey), Compass Tavern (North Petherton), The Cottage (Keenthorne), Crown Inn (Chedzoy), The Ancient Mariner (Nether Stowey), The George Inn (George Street), The London Inn (Eastover), The Prince of Wales (Woolavington), Royal Oak (West Street), Rising Sun and The Sheep Market Inn (Friarn Street), Sailor's Home (St John Street), Burtle Inn, Foresters (St John Street), London Inn and Manor House Inn (Nether Stowey), The Globe (Cannington), The Quantock Gateway (Wembdon Road), The Star and Vinters Arms (Eastover).
