BRADFORD-on-Tone based Sheppy's won stars for three of its ciders at the Great Taste Awards 2017.

Classic (Somerset) Draught and Oak Matured Vintage were both awarded two stars, while Sheppy's limited edition Iwood took home one star.

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the world's largest food and drink awards and has been dubbed the Oscars for the industry.

Referring to Classic (Somerset) Draught, the judges said: "Beautifully balanced. This shouts Somerset Cider with classic farmhouse flavours."

Oak Matured Vintage was: "Clean and inviting. Quite a powerful number - well balanced with a firm finish."

And Iwood was: "A gorgeous golden colour. Complex on the nose with promising rich flavours. Rounded and like biting into a juicy apple."

Sheppy's master of cider David Sheppy, who heads up the sixth generation at the family farm, said: "We entered three ciders from the Sheppy's collection this year, and we are thrilled that not one, but all three of them won Great Taste stars.

"These awards are testament to the hardworking and passionate 'stars' here at Sheppy's, who are committed to producing the very best cider."
