PEOPLE in Minehead are being asked to do their bit to help support those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire in London.

The public's response to the tragedy has been enormous, with 40,000 boxes of donations handed in.

The British Red Cross has sorted through the gifts, with new items given to the Grenfell community and other saleable items sold through the charity's shops.

Red Cross manager Kaye Peach said: "Grenfell stock has now reached Minehead and every penny from these sales will benefit the people who have been so badly affected affected by this disaster.

"The people of West Somerset have always been so supportive when we have an appeal and can show their support by popping into the Minehead branch on The Avenue and look for the labels marked 'London Fire'."
