PARAMEDICS were called to St James' Church after two men were found slumped on a bench in the church yard.

A group of church wardens discovered two men lying on a bench in St James' church yard at around 3.10pm today and called 101 for help.

At around 3.20pm an ambulance appeared and paramedics went to give treatment to the pair.

Kate Taylor, children and young people's coordinator at St James Church said: "We saw the two men on the bench at around 3pm as we were coming back to the church and we knew we had to call for help as something didn't look right.

"Both of the men were slumped on a bench and looked like they had been drunk or under the influence of drugs.

"We didn't approach them as we didn't think it would be safe and called 101 for help.

"We felt they needed some attention and so wanted to help and be good samaritans."
