AN OPTICIANS in Burnham-on-Sea has recruited an Aussie pop princess to help with their fundraising effort.

Staff at Burnham Specsavers on High Street have a life-size cut out of Kylie Minogue which they are planning to auction off to raise money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Customers are being asked to put forward bids for Kylie, with the highest being able to take her home.

The store has been supporting the RNIB throughout the summer ahead of its store director, Rama Venkat’s, head shave on Thursday September 21.

"We’ve had the cardboard cut-out since the frame launch earlier in the year" she said.

"Kylie’s so popular that we thought it would be a great way to help raise more money for the RNIB.

"We’ve put a £75 reserve on her but have no doubt she’ll generate lots of interest."

Bids can be placed on the pop princess in store until Wednesday, September 20 before the winning bid is revealed on September 21.
