WHEN one Bridgwater Flower Show member was on a trip to the USA, they spotted an idea which they hope will take off at this year's show.

The Bridgwater resident was visiting the Franklin County Fair which is held annually in the town of Farmington, Maine, and was inspired by the Making a Christmas Tree Decoration competition.

The suggestion was made to the committee and now a class will be part of this year's Bridgwater Flower Show.

BFS society secretary Jackie Sealey said: "We expect the competition to be very popular with children and making a decoration will give them an activity in the school holidays.

"We are looking forward to seeing some imaginative and attractive decorations."

Bridgwater Flower Show will take place on August 25 & 26 in the Town Hall with more than 500 exhibits on display, including plants, flowers, vegetables and fruit, hobbies and crafts, art, photography and cooking, as well as Children’s classes, with sections for novices, senior citizens and allotment holders.
