A BRAND new music festival is coming to Ilminster to mark one year since the football team’s clubhouse opened.

Brit Fest 2017 will be held on Saturday and is the main event on a weekend which marks the first anniversary of the re-opening of the Archie Gooch pavilion.

The event has been organised by the club’s directors, Andy Fish, Emma Jane Taylor, Darren Paull and Laurie McKinnon.

Paul Webber, another of the event’s organisers, said: “We are looking to re-launch the Archie Gooch pavilion after a very successful year, and we now want to encourage more people that it is a sports club not a football club and can be used by all, you don’t need to be a member.

“The event is free to everyone and we would love to see everyone there - families and dogs are welcome.

“Music will start at 1pm and run until 11pm.”

The bill includes The Flattones, The IOUs, Microlight, Shoot The Moon, Ocean Sunset View and Rexus Hollow.

There will also be a barbecue and a bouncy castle.

Mr Webber added: “Normally this would be a £10 ticket but the directors of the Archie Gooch pavilion and one generous sponsor want to give something back to the community for an amazing first year.

“On Sunday, we have a magic show from 3pm to 6pm for the children. This is £4 for a ticket including food, and the whole weekend is to celebrate one year of the Archie Gooch pavilion.”
