FIVE generations joined in the celebrations when Dorothy Richards turned 100 recently.
Among those at her landmark occasion were her son, Phillip, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as friends and staff at Mountbatten Nursing Home, in Taunton, where she lives.
Dorothy was born in Trusham, Devon, to Adeline Mary Harding and Edwin Harding on May 19, 1917, and was one of seven siblings.
Her mother always said Dorothy was almost born in the cabbage patch - which probably led to her love of gardening.
She went into service at a young age until she married in 1941 and enjoyed a life of farming.
Her great wish was always to get to her 100th birthday and her family have praised the excellent nursing care of everyone at Mountbatten Nursing Home that helped her achieved that.
