WOOLAVINGTON'S new £700,000 Co-op food store has opened this week.

Based in Woolavington Hill, the Co-op say the new outlet will create jobs and provide a funding boost for nearby good causes.

The Co-op has a membership scheme where customers receive a 5 per cent reward on the purchase of own-branded products, with a further 1 per cent going to good causes.

Among those set to benefit from the scheme are Chilton Polden Playing Field, Secret World Wildlife Rescue and the Woolavington Village Primary School PTA.

The new, larger, Co-op opened on Thursday, 8 June, and offers an in-store bakery, Costa coffee and customer car parking alongside its fresh foods and essentials.

Chris Mack, store manager for the new Co-op: said: “We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Woolavington – we have had a great response, it is an exciting time for the whole team to be involved in the launch of the Co-op’s newest store. The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum, our ambition is to establish the store as a local hub, a real asset for the community.”
