COMMUNITY groups across the district will benefit from nearly £10,000 of grant funding, thanks to awards given out by Sedgemoor District Council.

Monarchs Gymnastics Club in Highbridge were awarded £1,390 towards new equipment including a mini high-bar, two safety mats and a twisting belt.

BOS Fest were granted £1,500 as a one-off start up grant for the proposed new music and performing arts festival on September 9.

Finally £1,000 was awarded to Burnham Comic Con, to be held on August 19.  This new event will involve entertainers, special guests, retro arcade, cosplay masquerade and venders of collectables.

Hannah Payne, a guide leader with 3rd Bridgwater Guides is running an international trip in August and taking 13 girls to Iceland, where they will be volunteering, carrying out painting, tree planting, cleaning and litter picking. Hannah was awarded £500 towards the cost of the trip. 

The bell ringers group at St Mary's Church in Bridgwater were granted £2,500 which will go towards the modifcation of the bellframe to accommodate lighter bells.

Bridgwater-based Sedgemoor Chess Club was donated £400 towards helping them find a family-friendly venue where they can play the game and encourage younger members to take part.
