A BURNHAM-on-Sea councillor has been elected as the vice chairman of Somerset County Council.
Cllr Peter Burridge Clayton was chosen for the county role at Somerset County Council's annual general meeting on May 24.
Cllr William Wallace was also elected to the post of chairman of the council at the meeting.
The appointments were proposed by the Conservative group and were unanimously supported by councillors at the meeting.
Cllr David Fothergill was elected as leader at the meeting and announced his new cabinet and their areas of resposibility.
They are as follows.
Resources and Economic Development – Cllr David Hall
Adult Social Care – Cllr David Huxtable
Children and Families – Cllr Frances Nicholson
Highways and Transport – Cllr John Woodman
Corporate and Community Services – Cllr Anna Groskop
Public Health and Well-Being – Cllr Christine Lawrence
Strategy and Customers and Communities – Cllr David Fothergill
