AN event where people were encouraged to talk about death went so well that the organiser hopes to repeat it.

More than 20 people took part in an open discussion on dying at Taunton's first Death Cafe at the Creative Innovation Centre on Saturday.

People talked about their experiences with death, their hopes and fears for when their own end comes and funerals at the relaxed get-together, which included tea and cake.

Wallace Stuart Funeral Directors attended, taking along a willow coffin made locally.

Organiser Nicole Stanfield Caile said: "I was so pleased with the turnout.

"All of these people from different walks of life, coming together to talk about the one thing that we all have in common.

"The discussion about death was very helpful and interesting."

She added that due to the success of the event, another meeting is being planned for early September.
