CHARD Royal British Legion have hailed their first fundraising event an ‘overwhelming success.’
The charity fundraiser saw members of the public gather to cheer on the 100th annual Army v Navy rugby match at Twickenham.
The group met in their new event headquarters, the Chard Conservative Club, and held a raffle to help boost funds.
The event was organised by the Chard RBL’s new committee, which includes president Clive Sanders and chairman Victoria Whiteman.
Raffle prizes were donated by The Green Dragon, Eleos, Spice Villa, Simply Hair and Beauty, Clive Sanders, Foto Finish, The Bell and Crown, Candy Bees Sweet Shop and Complete Meats.
A spokesman for the club said: “A fantastic result with Chard Branch’s first event. We raised a great total of £242 which will be split evenly between the Royal British Legion and Royal Naval Association.
“Thank you to everyone who supported us, the Chard Conservative Club for hosting the event and everyone attending.”
