THE BIG chance for Chard’s talented musicians to get their star break is returning to the town this summer.

The inaugural Somerset Unsigned event was held on November 26 and saw crowds flock to see the town’s top acoustic musicians on display at the Guildhall.

The event was last year run by Chard singer songwriter Jack Humphries who has this year brought on board Ian Hare to help make the event bigger and better.

Mr Humphries said: “We are not doing this to make money, so all profits will go to NSPCC.

“Last year’s event was good but there were things that we could improve on so this year we have moved the event to the summer, I have got Ian involved and we are also going to be holding the street party during the day as a warm up event.”

Somerset’s Unsigned II will take place on May 20, with tickets available now.

The warm up street party will be held on Fore Street from 1pm and include artists Rebecca Shelley, Sam Patten, Fishnet Parachutes, Webley Twizzle and more.

The main event will then see the music move inside the Guildhall for a 7pm start.

The headline act is White Station, with performances from Jorden Lindsay, Stevie Nicole Brown, Eliezer, The Last Cor and Melanie Meryn, as well as Jack himself.

Tickets booked in advance cost £5 and on the door it will cost £8.

The event is set to run until 11.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Guildhall, or for more information, contact Jack at jack_humphries@hotmail.co.uk.
