TRIBUTES have been paid to a motorcyclist who died in a crash at the weekend.

Neal White, 50, has been named locally as the man who died following a crash in Bridport in Dorset on Saturday, (April 8).

The 50-year-old was from Martock and worked at Leonardo Helicopters UK in Yeovil.

Today, staff have paid tribute to Neal, who was described as a popular employee.

John Ponsonby, managing director of Leonardo Helicopters UK, said: “We are shocked and saddened by this tragic loss.

"Neal was a popular and respected employee who had worked for the Company for more than 20 years.

"He will be greatly missed by his work colleagues.

"Our condolences and thoughts go out to Neal’s family and friends and we will do anything we can to help his family during this very sad and difficult time.”

The crash involved a blue Honda motorcycle and a green Skoda Octavia.

Sadly, Mr White died at the scene. 

The driver of the car, a 71-year-old man and his 63-year-old female passenger – both from South Petherton in Somerset –  were uninjured. 

Sea Road North was closed between the Esso roundabout and St Andrews Road while collision investigators examined the scene. It re-opened at 8.45pm.

Police are still appealing for information following the crash.
