A RAFFLE held in memory of a young Bridgwater man who tragically took his own life last year raised an amazing total of more than £3,000.

Family and friends of Reece Baker are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise awareness of mental health issues, suicide prevention and to help raise funds for the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) and Elyse’s trust.

The raffle was organised by friends Callum Gardiner and Hannah Cook and raised an impressive £3,023 at The Cornhill Pub on Saturday, April 1.

The Bridgwater Mayor and Mayoress stayed for the duration of the evening and took an active part by picking picking out the winning tickets.

Some great prizes had been donated including Bristol City tickets, West End show tickets, free hair cuts and much more.

Reece Baker succumbed to suicide on October 9, 2016 at the age of 23, leaving behind his daughter Elyse, loving parents, brother and close friends.

His father, Alan Baker, is planning to take on the challenge to climb the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in the space of 24 hours, and will be joined by Laurence Hobbs, Holly Redman, Bella Coveney, Thomas Smith, Nikki Lang, John Pye, Rupert Shorthouse, Claire Varker and Rui Rodrigues.

They will be taking on the challenge on May 27 and 28, scaling Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Mount Snowden in Wales.
