A CHARD man has been left devastated and felling vulnerable after his motorbike was vandalised and damaged by yobs while parked at Crewkerne Station.

Allan Blake was returning from a trip to London on March 10 when he discovered the damage and parts stolen.

The bike, a 2011 black Triumph Tiger 800, was secured with a heavy duty chain and padlock and parked in the 20-minute drop-off point, where he had been advised to leave it by station staff.

But he returned to discover the driver and pillion seats had been ripped off with force, breaking security fittings and allowing access to the battery beneath. Wires were cut and cabling pulled from the bike to enable the theft of accessories fitted to the machine.

“I enjoy travelling by train, but this experience has left me feeling vulnerable and disappointed,” Mr Blake said. “What is particularly galling is my insurance company said if there is no third-party claimant, the matter will be classed as a fault claim which would affect future premiums for both my bike and car.

“This means that I will probably have to cover damage and repair costs.”

Items removed included a Road Hawk Ride bullet Dash Cam camera and micro SD card, a USB port, a pair of CREE daytime running lamps, and an Inforad GPS speed camera detection system.

Damage was also caused to fitted horns, fog lamp and both rider and pillion seats, which will have to be replaced.

A spokesman for BTP appealed for information after “a motorcycle had suffered some criminal damage”.

“We are currently appealing for witnesses and reviewing CCTV,” he added.
