A SPONSORED tag relay at Cotley Point to Point raised £1,000 for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment.
Rider Felix Ransford and runner Emma Richardson took part in the sponsored event last year in memory of Des Boyland.
A total of £1,620.65 was raised last week for SURE, which equips the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital, meaning £678,198.55 has been raised for the charity since it linked up with the County Gazette.
Donations of 5p coins amounted to £2 from Gina Gore; £2 from Jean Leeming; £24 from Lorraine Fordyce, of Middlezoy; £50 from Hemyock Short Mat Bowling Club; £35 from Mr and Mrs T. Coombes, of Puriton; and £37.15 from the Moose Ladies Circle, Taunton.
Left at the Beacon Centre was £10 in 5ps from Creech St Michael WI; £40 mainly in 5ps from Norman Tomkies, of Street; £50 in 5ps from Jean Frazer, of Taunton; £32 in 5ps from the Bunch of Grapes pub, in Bridgwater; and £29.85 in 5ps from Jan Biddiscombe and friends of Creech St Michael.
There was a £10 donation from Mrs K. Preator, and from the Beacon Centre £138.65, of which £113 was in 5ps.
The partners and solicitors of Stokes Partnership LLP solicitors donated £60 from their oath witness fees, while Mrs M. Jones, of Tintinhull, raised £100 from the sale of her hand-knitted chicks with a small chocolate egg inside.
