BUILDING work is set to start on a Burnham-on-Sea play area as part of a £10,000 investment programme.
Crosses Pen play area next to Manor Gardens in Burnham-on-Sea will see the next phase of investment works begin on March 29 with works expected to start in the next three days.
The upgrade, costing £9,995, has been part funded by Sedgemoor District Council’s Parks budget and developer contributions ring-fenced for play area enhancements.
A spokesman for Sedgemoor District Council, said: “Investment in play is very important to Sedgemoor District Council.
"Children and young people benefit greatly from having a variety of play and sport facilities to explore with their peers and such equipment helps to ensure they lead an active and creative lifestyle”
A new play train with carriages, ticket office play panel and frog spring rocker will be installed in place of the old equivalent items.
A new rubber safety surface and lookalike track for the train will also be provided.
The majority of the play area will remain open for use during the construction period.
